Bite

By Keanna Rose

I am inspired by the difficulty of translating intimacy as it feels. I like to take my time while capturing to remind myself that only those involved in that 1/60th of a second can see anything around this frozen scene.

I watch my loves’ breath and body adjust as the camera becomes present, then ease back as they slowly acknowledge the camera as a significant part of us in this moment. Tethering the lens and the subject together gives equal control as they engrave the document together. Solidifying moments on film has become a significant tool in aiding my inability to express, forming an archive that helps me track myself as time and place progress around me.
