Embrace

By Natalie Birholtz

I believe it is important for children and adults to grow and explore through play. Everyone should be able to free their minds of the stress of life, and engaging with art allows people to do just that. I escape through my art, and I invite people to escape with me. The medium I choose depends on how I want the viewer to engage with my work. If I want to bring someone into another place, I will illustrate it. If I want to bring another world into our reality, I’ll sculpt it. I hope to invoke the feelings of comfort in those who view my work. I have just begun my journey of embracing my queerness and want to share what queer joy looks like to me. I hope through sharing images of queer joy that others who are starting their journey can feel their happiness is worthy of celebrating.
