Miku Saeki

My Practice is an investigation of my frustration under the constant pressure and self-doubt that many women experience. It is a process of criticizing my own behavior toward insecurities and beauty standards. I put myself into the position of being analyzed, and represent myself as a reference to the beauty standard. My work explored the concept of adornments that look like typical jewelry at first glance but something “odd” about the work. My intention of work was to question the standard idea of beauty, which was symbolized by jewelry in my work. So, the audience’s reaction could be either positive or negative and decide what’s beautiful to them, and not.
