Smile

By Daniel Nelson

I am a Chicago born and raised artist living on the north side of the city. A 1975 graduate of Chicago’s Ray Vogue School for Graphic Design and working in advertising since graduation. My painting didn’t begin in earnest until 10 years ago.

My art began to develop as I started to paint without expectations and to paint for the pure joy of it. I started with abstracts exploring color and technique and realizing the more I painted the more confident I became and the happier I was with the results. That confidence led to my current series “Living Mid-Century”. I combine my love of color with my love of Mid-Century architecture, Palm Springs and the quirky people that live there with their tolerant pets. My paintings all have a story behind them and I try to insert some humor. I can tell you what I believe that story is but encourage you to imagine for yourself what is happening in the painting.

24"x 24" Acrylic on Canvas
