Untitled

By Indyia Robinson, Sehba Faheem, Melissa Flores

This object represents a combination of our individual ideas surrounding queerness and the ways we show love. The making and organizing process surrounding the object took coordination, over-communication, compromises and problem solving. The creation of this object created tensions and challenged a lot of our perceptions of what it means to work collaboratively to create a shared reality. Experimenting in this way reflects a similar nature to queer relationships and what it means to challenge traditional ways of forming identity and navigating relationships via sexuality, non-monogamy, or questioning internalized biases. The takeaway aspect of this art with the seeds is meant to represent the giving and taking nature to a lot of relationships but also that relationships are alive and are constantly fed and nurtured over time. Our relationships are a gift we give and receive.
