Every work of visual art makes the same demand: “Look at me.” Or, put another way, “Don’t look at anything else.” So on some fundamental level, every work of art becomes a fascinating exercise in cropping – in framing things in or out. Also, if people actually do look, it seems the least one can do is make the experience interesting and worth their time. So I create targets for the human gaze – images that will keep the eyes and the mind moving for as long as possible. In the end, my work challenges viewers to think about how they actually see things
